Please check before admission with your insurance company that your policy covers you for the accommodation and treatments that you require.

Patients are liable for any charges not covered by their insurance company.

Clane General Hospital operates a direct settlement system with VHI, Quinn Healthcare, Aviva Health for all inpatient services.  However it is also important to note that many private healthcare insurance plans apply excess conditions which may require a supplementary payment by the patient.

When initially attending Clane Hospital please bring details of your medical insurance cover including membership number and insurance plan and our staff can ensure that all excesses etc. are checked for you prior to admission.

Clane General Hospital also operates a direct settlement system with ESB Medical Provident Fund, St. Pauls Garda Medical Aid, The Prison Officers Association and The Defence Forces.

However it is important that patients contact their Healthcare provider prior to admission to clarify their coverage.

Please note that all patient excesses and shortfalls on Insurance policies must be paid prior to surgery or on the day of admission.

Private Non-Insurance Patients

Patients with no healthcare insurance will be required to pay for treatment in full prior to day of admission.  You will be given a schedule of charges upon booking.  In order to ensure that no subsequent billing will occur Clane Hospital endeavour to ensure that all fees are included in initial notification of charges.

Outpatient Fees

Please note that insurance providers do not cover the cost of Outpatient Consultations and this is payable on the day the service is provided.

Should your consultant require blood tests or x-rays to be carried out there will be a subsequent charge for these tests on completion.  Outpatient expenses are not directly covered by your Healthcare Insurance and fees are payable upon service.

MRI/CT scans are covered by some Healthcare policies however it is important to check with your insurance company prior to service being carried out.

 Forms of payment accepted

Clane General Hospital accept the following methods of payment:

  • Cash
  • Personal Cheque (max value €500)
  • All Credit Cards (visa, mastercard etc.)
  • Debit Card
  • Bank Draft
  • Postal Order

Credit card/Debit card payments are accepted by phone.

Our Accounts Staff are available Monday – Friday 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and will gladly assist you with all queries and account/pricing information.

Tax relief on medical expenses

Various medical expenses are tax deductible and tax relief may be claimed.  For more information please refer to the Revenue website on www.revenue.ie  where you can also download both the Med 1 and Med 2 forms.
